Today, after breakfast, we depart for the Akagera National Park wildlife safari. The driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and drop you off at the end of the trip or at the airport, depending on your preference.
The drive to Akagera National Park takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes, depending on the number of stops along the way. With the beautiful landscape en route to the park, feel free to ask the guide for stopovers to capture some photos.
On arrival at the park, we shall proceed to our accommodations after a short game drive, check in, and order lunch.
After lunch, leave for Lake Ihema and spend an hour on the lake enjoying a boat safari. Look out for hippos, crocodiles in the water or at the shores, and elephants and buffaloes feeding near the lake. Enjoy sightings of several birds, including the black crake, spur-winged lapwing, pied kingfisher, malachite kingfisher, Goliath heron, African fish eagle, African jacana, etc.
We arise early and leave for a game drive in Akagera National Park after breakfast. We will be searching for big mammals like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, several antelope species, and recently reintroduced lions and rhinos. The park is a varied habitat for wildlife and a birders' haven, with over 500 bird species in the park.
Before starting the journey back to Kigali, you will leave the lodge with a packed lunch for the game drive, which will last about 6 hours, depending on your interests.s
Today, after a relaxed breakfast, you will return to Kigali but through the park, doing one last game drive. You can choose to do a later check-out and drive directly to Kigali.
