How many people will be in a group?

Depending on your wish you can join on a small group or a large group. Most small groups organized by tour operators start from a group of 2 to 12 people and larger group starts from a group of 12 – 20 people.

How many people normally join in one Kilimanjaro climbing group?

Normally small groups will consist of at least 2 to 12 people climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. However there are bigger groups consisting of climbers from 12 to 20 people or more upon clients’ request.

How does a typical Kilimanjaro group look like?

Different tour operators build groups. But, only the ones with standard and value have a limited number of people per group so that they provide high standard service. Either, it is not common for many operators to match age in these groups. Very few match groups with age in mind. But, no worries as most people climbing Kilimanjaro are sociable from a different part of the world looking to share an unforgettable adventure with you.

Once I get to Tanzania how do I meet up with the group to climb Kilimanjaro with?

Upon arrival at the airport a driver or a tour company representative will come and pick you up from the airport. Most tour companies prefer taking their clients to the hotels first. If you happen to have booked the same hotel with other climbers in your group you may then be able to meet them during a meal or simply ask to see them in their rooms. Either, most common way of meeting they have been during departure from the hotels or Moshi town to the National Park gate. If this would not be possible then you are to definitely meet them up at the gate as you check-in the national park.

Can I join a Kilimanjaro climbing group as a single climber?

Yes, a single climber can join any group climb or even book their own private climb. Most solo travelers prefer to join groups.

Can I join a group climb as a single climber?

Yes, a single climber can join any group climb or even book their own private climb. Tour operators do not have a minimum number of climbers in order for a climb to be guaranteed to depart.

Are group climbs and Private climbs the same thing?

No! Groups are not and never the same as Private climbs. On private climbs you decide the dates and can customize the itinerary while in groups you cannot as days are already fixed and itinerary already decided.

Is it Possible to Climb Kilimanjaro Privately?

You go with the people you choose. You leave on whatever day you wish. You decide on your preferred route option, pace and the number of days you will take, with detours to villages, forest, geological features, or whatever attracts you to the mountain, be it flora, panoramic landscapes, glaciers or climbing challenges. You can plan additional rest days for acclimatization so that you can actually enjoy your unique Kilimanjaro vacation rather a rat race to reach the summit, or even make a trip to Crater Camp to give you a head start on sunrise from Uhuru Point.
