Shira cone It was erupted for nearly two hundred thousand years, and then the rims of Shira Volcano collapsed, forming a large, open caldera. This eruption was very strong and pushed the Kibo crater to an altitude of nearly 6000 meters making it the tallest of all three volcanic cones.
The latest recorded volcanic activity on Mount Kilimanjaro happened some two hundred years ago, resulting in the creation of a structure known as the Ash Pit which is one of the key attractions in the crater

Kilimanjaro was the mountain’s Swahili name. which according to Kiswahili language and chaga tribe “Kilima” meaning “mountain” and the Chagga word “Njaro” meaning “whiteness.”

There are different routes when climbing Kilimanjaro and some route take more than one week and other route take few days less than one week so the meters is depending on route you choose. These routes including machame, marangu, Umbwe and other routes. When climbers reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, they will be standing at the altitude of 19,340 feet which is high enough to see the curvature of the earth.
