Therefore every tour operator company should not arrange their Kilimanjaro itinerary that shorter than a week it should be more than one week. But the success rate also is depending on route you choose.

Kilimanjaro Summit Success Rate

Every route on Kilimanjaro has their own summit success rate. Each route should be considered, as well as the number of climbing days on a given route for example a six day Machame route has a much different success rate than a six day trek on the Marangu route.

Depending on the route you choose, you will be on the top of mountain for a week and you can return back for five days according to route you have choose. Also the chosen route can take a longer time either because of some emergency that happen when climbing. But you should remember that the shortest way to the summit is not going to be the best the longer your route, the more scenic it is going to be and the more time you will have to acclimatize.

Altitude takes time

Summit success rates are highly correlated with the length of the chosen climbing route. The more time you spend on the mountain, the higher the likelihood that you will be successful in your summit success rate. You will be walking 30-40 miles and ascend more than 14,000ft. You should know that the Kilimanjaro climbing is among of our body exercise. Therefore, need to understand your chances of actually reaching the summit and which routes give you the best chance at doing that. As we know that every tour operator company has its own official route so after you book to any tour company they will tell you about their official route and they will explain about their entire route then you will decide on which route you will use to summit the top.

Also the success rate is depending on your speed because if it is either six day to summit and uhuru peak but your speed is low then you will rate to success to summit but if day increased then you will need to pay for that addition day. The major problem is that, except for the old and outdated Kilimanjaro National Park Authority statistics, there are no official statistics surrounding Kilimanjaro climbs and summit success rates.

The statistics published by Kilimanjaro National Park Authority date from the early 2000s and are heavily skewed towards the short five day treks which have in recent years become much less popular as tourists have become better informed on the risks of altitude sickness on these short routes like marangu, Umbwe and machame route.

Summit success greatly improved when you spend longer on the mountain. The longer you give your body on the mountain, the more time it has to adapt and acclimatize to the altitude. The longer you spend trekking, the higher chance of success you have.

Route list is also very important and all good operators will recommend routes that have a climb high and low speed. This means trekking to the higher sections during the day and sleeping on the lower sections to give your body the opportunity it needs to acclimatize. Low quality operators will simply rush you up the mountain on the shortest route possible. Old Kilimanjaro summit success rate according to Route
